It's the day of the general election in the UK and I have voting to do. It's been cold, wet, windy and sunny today. I don't know how that will affect turnout.

As well as voting for myself, I'm casting a proxy vote for someone else. There's a lot of that going on today, especially up here in Scotland. The schools are off for the Summer and families have gone away on holiday. Hopefully to somewhere warm, dry and sunny.

I'm voting in two different constituencies and for two different parties. Double the checking to make sure I haven't voted for the bams by accident. There are a lot of them standing this year. Just like every other year.

The dogs aren't allowed in the polling station. Again, just like every other year. Not that they care about democracy. They would probably vote Green, but I might be projecting. Any party that pledges to protect green spaces, keep the air clean and protect children and the elderly (their two favourite types of human), would work for them.

I'm also waiting to find out if I'm going to have a job once I finish my current one. I quit for reasons and finish on the 24th July. I had an interview yesterday. It went well, but that's no guarantee. The job market's not buoyant just now. This is only the second time in my 25+ years of post-University employment that I've quit a job without a new one. The last time was in 2008, just before the financial crash. I probably should learn something here. I'll work out what that is later. This time we can afford for me to be unemployed for a few months, so it's not disastrous if I don't get something immediately.

What's for me won't go by me, apparently. If what's for me is months of unemployment and a solid round of "I told you.", then I'm quite happy to let it past.
